Amulet Necklaces 

These are my perennial passion, and my signature work over the years. Most of these necklaces feature vintage amulets from India with traditional Hindu goddesses and gods. In Hindu art, you can see the importance of amulets, because even the deities are depicted wearing amulets themselves. All of these are silver, even if the lighting makes them look a bit golden. Each has its own personality and is one-of-a-kind, which I really love about them. A small "pedigree paper" is included with each one, so that you will know where your piece is from, what it means, and what gemstones it is paired with. You'll be a woman "in the know."

Garnet Floral Amulet Necklace - NEW & SOLD

This pretty vintage floral amulet is really enchanting. It was missing its dangles when I acquired it, so I added a mix of tiny silver charms from India, and a central Balinese silver charm with the same garnet bead used in the rest of the necklace. (I also made matching earrings with the same charm, which are photographed below.) The necklace has 22 carats of faceted garnets that I brought back from Thailand. They are a marvelous mix of reds and orange-y reds, and they do SPARKLE. Garnet has a very high surface reflection (called "luster" by gemologists). It is only slightly less than diamonds, and comparable to sapphires. Balinese silver and hematite are used as accents throughout. It is a pretty, pretty piece. 16.25" long. Turquoise Drop Goddess Amulet with Dangles Necklace - SOLD close button

If I do it right, the necklaces I design around these vintage amulets from India look as if they have always been this way. I really like the way that the sterling beads and Balinese silver in the necklace echo the dangles and detail in the amulet. This protective goddess wields a sword and trident (all while looking very pretty in her dress!) If you look closely, you can see a golden tikka at the bottom of the bail, and traces of the resin where it was blessed. Next to the Balinese toggle clasp there is an alluring turquoise charm to hang at your nape. Matching earrings are available below, or on page 1 of the earrings section. 17.75" long. Rutilated Quartz Bhumiya Raj Hero Amulet Necklace

This amulet can't help but be romantic. The Bhumiya Raj Hero (for protection of home and family) is depicted here with his wife atop their horse. The variety of colors in the 179 carats of faceted rutilated quartz make me think of warm Indian spices like cinnamon and cardamom. There's even a few greenish stones -- those must be fresh herbs. ;-) We certainly have the recipe for an attractive, one-of-a-kind conversation piece. Tiny hematite beads and Balinese silver accents are used throughout, and there is a delightful charm by the toggle clasp. Pink Opal Goddess Necklace

These rose colored pink opals just seemed to ask to be combined with this pretty vintage goddess amulet from India. Though don't let her elegant dress and crown fool you, she is still a protective spirit with her trident in one hand, and what looks to be a sword in the other. (Looking good AND doing good.) There are 221 carats of pink opal, 18 carats of melon-cut rose quartz, tiny faceted hematites, and Balinese silver accents. There's also a pretty rose quartz charm by the ornate toggle clasp. 18.75" long. (#N434) $325

Mother-of-Pearl Amulet Necklace - SPECIAL ORDER

This delightful amulet necklace is quite similar to the one that I personally wear the most. The mother-of-pearl goes with almost everything, and is so flattering against skin. The patina on this vintage amulet is quite wonderful. Age has worn it smooth, which gives it a brightness that is quite becoming with the glow of the mother-of-pearl. I'm unsure of the particular deity (there are thousands of them), but it is definitely a protective spirit armed with a trident and a mace at your service. Golden Pearl Peacock Amulet Necklace - NEW & SOLD

This vintage amulet from India is amazingly elegant. The florals are so refined, and the peacocks are so stately (also, they are a symbol of royalty). Within the leaf-shape of the amulet, the inner design is a subtle heart. Are these peacocks lovebirds??? Perhaps they are. I recently learned from an Indian woman that this is a wedding pendant. The dangles rustle when the piece is worn -- quite alluring. The golden pearls echo the roundness of the dangles, and add to the exotic appeal of the piece. Balinese silver accents repeat the detail of the silver amulet. A pretty pearl charm at the back makes sure that every detail has been attended to. What a marvel gemstones are. Did you know that garnets occur in all these colors? Amazing. I was so delighted to find these beautiful sparkly beads that I purchased three strands. One to make this necklace, one to make the Surya Amulet necklace on the next page, and one that has yet to be made. This necklace has 31 carats of these faceted gems including the deep red garnet charm by the toggle clasp. The vintage amulet depicts Seven-Mothers-and-a-Guardian. Just imagine how protected you would be with seven mothers PLUS a bonus guardian! This image goes back for millennia, and is sometimes also known as the Seven Sisters (so you can take your pick :-) It has a wonderful worn oval shape, and is perfectly enchanting. 18" long.
