Turquoise Durga Amulet Necklace - NEW & LAYAWAY

Durga is a Hindu goddess who rides a lion and banishes fear. Though this amulet is about the size of a dime, she is big on history. Her very name means the invincible one. She is also the slayer of the buffalo demon, Mahishasura. With Hinduism being the world's oldest living religion, and Durga's roots going back literally thousands of years, it is no exaggeration to say that she is the original "girl power." She is paired with 21 carats of bright turquoise from a source that has been mined out. Balinese silver accents are used throughout. A lovely dose of color and history. 17.25" long. (#N622, 4/19) $195

Tourmaline Durga Vintage Silver Amulet Necklace - NEW

Durga is a goddess who rides a lion and banishes fear, and who doesn't love that? This vintage amulet from India is paired with 20 carats of faceted tourmaline in a variety of colors. Hand-crafted Balinese silver accents are used throughout, and echo the patina of the pendant. For added color and interest, the tiniest garnet beads you've ever seen are used next to the silver accents - even the little charm by the toggle clasp. 18.38" long. (#N608, 7/14) $225

Indian Agate Goddess Silver Amulet Necklace - NEW & SOLD

Though this darling vintage goddess is barely larger than a dime, she is big on charm. The variety of colors in the 17 carats of faceted Indian agate just make me happy. I felt as if I were painting with gemstones. There are even tinier (2mm) contrasting red jasper beads (also faceted), and Balinese silver accents used throughout, and a larger faceted red jasper charm by the toggle clasp. This earthy mix of colors would be a great complement to so many outfits. Please note that in many of the photos the necklace is wrapped to show detail, but it can only be worn as a single strand. It is 17.5" long. (#N579, 5/18 M.P.) $195

Hawkseye Golden Goddess Amulet Necklace - SOLD

This diminutive silver goddess amulet India has a gold wash over the front that seems so well complemented by 21 carats of hawkseye. Hawkseye is believed to be tigereye that has had even longer to develop within the earth and has further developed greenish and blue-grey tones, while still maintaining its chatoyancy (cat's eye effect). These particular beads still have areas of golden tigereye to pick up on the amulet color. This little goddess is perfect for everyday wear, or to layer in with other necklaces for a more dramatic look. There is a mix of hand-crafted Balinese silver, and tiny gold-fill beads for a two-tone effect. By the toggle clasp there is a tigereye charm. Please note that in many of the photos the necklace is wrapped to show detail, but it can only be worn as a single strand. It is 17.75" long. (#N576, 4/19 M.G.) $195

Pearl & Garnet Bheru Amulet Necklace - NEW & LAYAWAY

These pearls iridesce in so many different shades that the color is almost indescribable, but I'll try. It's a mix of dark burgundy, peacock, gold, green and brown with the tiniest little garnets mixed in with Balinese silver for extra color and sparkle. The amulet depicts Bheru, a form of Shiva worshiped in Rajasthan. He is accompanied by a dog (at the bottom), and wields weapons to protect you, and carries a damaru (to enliven your spiritual energy). Why not have it ALL, right? 17.75" long. (N571, 9/18) $225

Mookaite Silver Horse Amulet Necklace - NEW

At first glance, this amulet appears to be depicting the Bhumiya Raj Hero, but he is typically armed with many weapons to protect the wearer. This horse does appear to have a rider, but I can only discern the head with a crown, so we have an elegant mystery, and a very attractive horse. Curiously, the inner shape of the amulet itself is a stylized spearhead, so the protective powers are still intact. Mookaite was discovered by Mooka Creek in western Australia, and remains its only source. Mooka means "running water" in the Aboriginal language. These 122 carats of mookaite are in cooler shades of mauve and burgundy. There are tiny hematite and silver accents throughout, and a pretty mookaite charm by the toggle clasp. Matching earrings are available below, or on page 2 of the Earrings section. 18" long. (#N557, 1/18) $365

Aquamarine Vishnu's Footprints Necklace

These 31 carats of pale sparkling aquamarine waited eight years to find their match; a sweet little vintage amulet depicting Vishnu's Footprints (a symbol of love, truth and mercy). The high silver content and bright polish add to the light and ethereal effect of this piece. Hand-crafted Balinese silver accents are used throughout, and there is a pretty aquamarine charm by the toggle clasp. 16.5" long. (#N460) $225

Turquoise Peacock Amulet Necklace - NEW & SOLD (but possible special order)

This charming vintage amulet from India depicts two peacocks facing each other. Peacocks are a symbol of royalty in India, but I also feel as if the two together are a bit romantic. This old pendant has a beautiful patina and wear pattern to it. It is paired with 51 carats of turquoise with tiny little faceted hematite beads between each one for just a hint of sparkle. Balinese silver accents are used throughout and there is a little turquoise charm next to the toggle clasp in back. Matching earrings are available below with the necklace at a discount, or by themselves on page 2 of the Earrings section. The necklace is 19" long, so you could easily layer in shorter and longer necklaces. Although this exact necklace has sold, I do have another similar amulet that we could add different gemstones to. (#N331, 3/29) $250

Grey Chalcedony & Pearl Vishnu's Footprints Amulet Necklace - SOLD

This necklace is like a misty dream of greys. In front, there are 31 carats of faceted grey chalcedony. Behind that, a mix of freshwater pearls and tiny faceted hematite beads. Balinese silver accents are sprinkled throughout. Vishnu is a symbol of love, truth and mercy. What I love about the Hindu supreme creator being represented by footprints is that we all have footprints, so I see it as the divine in all of us. There is a pretty chalcedony and hematite charm next to the sterling toggle clasp. 17.5" long. Matching earrings are available below, or on page 1 of the earrings section. (#N321, 1/19 L.M.) $195

Tourmaline Amulet Necklace - SOLD

I purchased this amulet because I loved this boat shape, and find dangles exotically irresistible. My supplier in India said that this was a "juver" shape, but I'm just not finding any more information about it when I research it. I would be so grateful if any of you scholars out there could tell me more about this one, and I'll share your insights here. What I do know is that this necklace has 46 carats of very nice faceted tourmaline, Balinese silver accents, and is 17" long. Also, it looks quite beautiful with the new "Balinese Companion" necklace (on page 5 of the More Necklaces section, and shown below). Really, a very lovely piece. Though this piece has sold, a similar piece may be able to be created (#N234) $325 approximate cost.
