Bronzite Vishnu's Footprints Silver Amulet Necklace - NEW & LAYAWAY
Bronzite is a stone that has little bits of golden sheen in it -- almost like little flecks of tigereye. The dark brown of these 46 carats makes it eminently wearable. The small amulet features Vishnu's Footprints - a symbol of love, truth, and mercy. The feet are flanked by offerings on each side, and the line up the middle leads to the ceremonial umbrella, which shades this precious image. The shape of the amulet itself is known as the "temple" shape, and there is a flower detail on the bail. It has Balinese silver and hematite accents throughout. There is a faceted smokey quartz charm with a tiny carnelian bead by the clasp - just for a little surprise. 17 1/8" long. (#N623, 4/19) $195

Golden Moonstone & Pearl Amulet Necklace - NEW
This necklace features a variety of sunstone, which, rather than having an orange color, is more golden. It is found in Madagascar and is called "golden moonstone." When I saw it, I had to catch my breath. It has so much life to it! This necklace features a lovely vintage silver amulet from India, 39 carats of faceted golden moonstone, freshwater pearls in the same color, tiny faceted hematite beads, and hand-crafted Balinese silver accents. So tasty that you'll want a spoon. :-) There are two different version of matching earrings photographed and available below. 19.5" long. (#N629, 9/18) $295

Variscite Hanuman Vintage Silver Amulet Necklace - NEW & LAYAWAY
The monkey general, Hanuman, is a symbol of love, courage, and devotion. He is a central character in the epic tale, the Ramayana; and one could easily say that without his help, Rama's wife, Sita, might have never been saved from her kidnapper, Ravana. I also think of Hanuman as a healer as he is always depicted carrying healing herbs (and he does save many lives after the battle for her freedom). The beautifully aged amulet is paired with 131 carats of variscite, hematite, and Balinese silver accents. A very special piece. 19.25" long. (#N463, 9/18) $265

Smokey Quartz Bheru Silver Amulet Necklace India - NEW & SOLD
Bheru is a form of Shiva, and is known as a ferocious protector. Though this amulet may be small, it's the thought that counts. :-) The amulet is in the classic "temple" shape, and has tiny little dangles that always add to the feeling of the exotic. The necklace has 15 carats of faceted smokey quartz, Balinese silver accents, and tiny little garnet accents throughout (including the charm by the toggle clasp). Please note that in many of the photos the necklace is wrapped to show detail (for example, how even the 3mm smokey quartz beads have variations in color). It is 17" long, and can only be worn as a single strand. (#N574, 8/18) $195

Mookaite Deity & Goddess Silver Amulet Necklace - NEW & SOLD
What I love about this amulet is that it appears the deity on the left is kneeling before the goddess on the right. The amulet appears to be made from imagery salvaged from a previous pendant. I appreciate that these amulets are re-fashioned, and allowed to age gracefully over the decades from one incarnation to the next. Mookaite was discovered by Mooka Creek in western Australia, and remains its only source. Mooka means "running water" in the Aboriginal language. These 133 carats of mookaite are in spicy shades of paprika, turmeric, and clove, plus some others that are positively painterly. The slideshow below shows some close-ups. There are little hematite accents used throughout, and a handcrafted Balinese silver charm by the toggle clasp. Matching earrings are available below, or on page 2 of the Earrings section. 17" long. (#N556, 1/18) $345

"Blessings" Necklace with African Turquoise
This yellow stone pendant from India has an inscription which is a mystery to me, BUT what I do know is that it's always something good (usually prosperity, protection, or both! :) , so I called this the "Blessings" necklace. The age of the stone is also unknown, but the setting looks more recent. The stone has a kind of unrefined surface that I felt would be enhanced by the visual texture in the 121 carats of African turquoise, which contrast really nicely with the golden color. Sprinkled in are 17 carats of yellow moss agate to pull the golden color through. Balinese silver and tiny hematite accents are used throughout. There are matching earrings available below, or on page 1 of the Earrings section. There is a yellow moss agate charm by the hand-crafted toggle clasp. 17.25" long. (#N474) $265

Kyanite Durga Necklace - NEW & SOLD
This vintage amulet from India depicts Durga, a goddess who rides a lion and banishes fear. Her very name means the invincible one. She is also the slayer of the buffalo demon, Mahishasura. With Hinduism being the world's oldest living religion, and Durga's roots going back literally thousands of years, it's no exaggeration to say that she is the original "girl power." She is shown here with 207 carats of kyanite, Balinese silver, hematite accents, and Thai silver beads with leaf patterns. The amulet itself has a wonderful patina. 21.5" long. (#N445, 9/6 R.S.-C.) $425

Amethyst Vishnu's Footprints Necklace - SOLD
Fifty-five carats of barrel-cut amethyst are paired with this beautiful antique amulet depicting Vishnu's Footprints. Vishnu is the embodiment of love, truth and mercy, and I love how footprints are something we all have. I see it as the divine in all of us. You can see the age and purity of silver in this amulet by how the silver itself looks melt-y. It's a wonderful thing. A couple other things you can note about this amulet is that it is in the classic "temple" shape. Even though it looks like a little house, it is actually the rectangular shaped amulets that represent the home. The line going between the feet and leading to a triangular shape on top represent a ceremonial umbrella. You can see these in religious processions. It seems even the statues of deities like to have a respite from the Indian Sun. Now that you know what to look for, you'll see it in a lot of the amulets. 16.25" long (#N043, 11/19) $185

Turquoise African Amulet Necklace - SPECIAL ORDER
This amulet is from Africa, and the triangular shape is believed to ward off the evil eye. I love how this amulet really shows it's age. It is well worn, and the high polish it was able to achieve is an indication of a high silver content. Multicolored turquoise beads comprise the necklace and are punctuated by old Thai silver accents. Tiny hematite beads are used throughout and echo the dark patina on the pendant. There is a turquoise and hematite charm by the sterling toggle clasp. The Thai Silver Half-Moon earrings on page 1 of the earrings section would be particularly nice with this, and are shown below. Although this exact necklace has sold, a similar piece may be possible. The necklace as shown is 16.25" long. (#N221) $150

Natural Coral Durga Amulet Necklace
This necklace is unusual for so many reasons. It is very rare to find a Durga amulet in which the lion is looking forward (instead of being in profile). In fact, in my 15 years of collecting, this is the first I saw, so of course, I had to buy it. (If you look closely, our feline seems to also have a bit of a jaunty gait, too -- charming!) Natural coral is also quite scarce. Most of what is on the market has been dyed. These coral beads are doubly nice since they've been given a higher polish. There are four different designs of new and old Thai silver beads within the strand for added intrigue. Their cylindrical shape echos that of the corals. Small hematite beads between each coral bead prevent them from abrading each other, and there's a pretty coral charm by the Balinese silver toggle clasp. The amulet is 3" high, and the necklace is 22" long. This piece is larger than most, and really makes a statement. Durga is a goddess who rides a lion and banishes fear. She is also the slayer of the Buffalo Demon. Just imagine the conversations you can have about this one! :-) Matching earrings are available on page 2 of the Earrings section, and are shown below. (N193) $650
