Birthstone Alternatives

When it comes to limiting your gemstones choices, I'm definitely not the woman for the job! So I thought it was fun to see all these options for birthstones that, in one way or another, you could call your own. Of course, I think you're perfectly entitled to call any gemstone your own (as you'll see by my note at the bottom), but I still think this is good fun...

People will ask me what certain gemstones "mean," and for as many books as I've read, I've gotten just about as many answers. I believe we can give our own meaning to any of these jewels. I always recommend that people get the gemstone they WANT. Trusting our own intuition rather than taking someone else's "one size fits all" approach feels so much more personal. There is a study in India called "Jyotish," which accounts for your individual moment of birth, which seems more fitting, but I prefer the freedom of self-trust. I'm so honored when someone chooses a piece of my jewelry to mark a significant moment of their lives.

Happy Gem Hunting!
