Five-Heart Necklaces

You won't believe it, but I never considered myself a "heart person," and now I just can't get enough of them! Maybe you'll be smitten, too. There are even more hearts on the Bracelets page and in the More Necklaces section. And just to make it convenient, there are three options for perfect (heart :) earrings at the bottom of this page.

These little hearts are so enchanting, I had to buy enough for a few necklaces. I've got lots of pretty options below, OR if you prefer another tiny gemstone, email me, and I'll see if I can make one especially for you! I've just acquired a second style of hearts in vintage silver, so you can have your choice.

Pink Tourmaline Five Heart Necklace - NEW

These five heart necklaces are very sweet, and even sweeter in faceted pink tourmaline. For a look that's not quite as delicate, they layer very well with other necklaces for more of a statement. The hearts are hand-crafted on Bali using the technique of granulation. Each heart is a little different (so true in life, too!) There are 12 carats of pink tourmaline, tiny hematite accents, and a Balinese silver toggle clasp with a pink tourmaline charm. An enchanting little piece of sparkle and femininity. 17" long. Poppy Jasper Five Bali Silver Heart Necklace

This necklace is wrapped three times in the photo, so that you can see the detail in these 2mm beads. Mother Nature has done such an inspiring job of creating endless variations in the colors of the 12 carats of tiny poppy jasper beads. It just makes me happy to see them. Tigereye Five Bali Silver Heart Necklace

Tigereye has such life to it. Even in these tiny beads you can see the chatoyancy (that's the rolling cat's eye effect). The charm next to the toggle has a larger tigereye, and a faceted hematite on top. Unakite is such an interesting stone. It is a combination of green epidote, white-to-grey quartz, and pink feldspar. These 11 carats of 2mm beads are faceted, so there is more sparkle to this necklace. The charm is faceted red jasper with a tiny green unakite bead above. Iolite Vintage Five-Heart Necklace - SPECIAL ORDER

These vintage hearts may be of Indian origin, but they were purchased in Afghanistan by a man who now lives in Canada. He braves his way back home once or twice a year, and brings back things that I cannot get for myself. His name is Osama (which I understand is as common there as "Bill" is here in the states). He calls me "dear," and I help him with his English. It's a good partnership, and it makes me think about the things that bring us together. In this case, beautiful materials. Incidentally, the lapis lazuli in the "Surin Twilight" is also from him (on page 3 of the More Necklaces section). This necklace has 23 carats of faceted iolite, Balinese silver accents, and round Argentium silver beads (which have a higher silver content, and are more tarnish resistant than regular sterling silver). Natural Turquoise Five Hearts Necklace - SPECIAL ORDER

All of these necklaces have very delicate proportions. The turquoise beads are 2mm round, and the hearts are only a quarter-inch across. There are tiny hematite beads throughout to add a little sparkle, and the toggle clasp has a sweet hematite and turquoise charm. The hearts are what enchant me most though. They are made in Bali using a technique called "granulation." Tiny spheres of silver are fused together creating the texture on the front that varies just slightly from heart to heart. 17.75" long. Mother-of-Pearl Five Hearts Necklace - SPECIAL ORDER

Mother-of-Pearl... Sigh... it's kind of dreamy, especially if you have a thing for wearing white cottons and linens for that quasi-Edwardian look. It's also flattering even against the palest of skin tones -- take it from someone who never tans. This strand is unbleached, so it's actually a warm beige mixed with whites. Because of the warmer shades in the mother-of-pearl, I decided to add faceted pyrite instead of hematite, and it gives the necklace a golden sparkle. It's quite delicate on its own, and is quite amazing layered in with other necklaces. This necklace was 17.5" long, but it is possible for me to make another, please email me for a delivery time. So... I must admit I was resisting using pink or red gemstones with the hearts because I didn't want to be cliché, but then I got to thinking, "Maybe it's not cliché... maybe it's CLASSIC." Carnelian is definitely on the orange-y side of red, but it's just enough color for these tiny 2mm beads.
